Engineered a completely custom Shopify theme that functions like a retro operating system, turning shopping into an interactive journey of discovery.
◆ Technical Deep Dive
To achieve the "desktop OS" feel within Shopify's constraints, we utilized the HTML5 Drag and Drop API combined with GSAP for smooth window movement. We implemented a custom AJAX cart and page transition system that fetches HTML fragments, parsing them to update the DOM without a full page reload. This preserves the "OS state" (open windows, position) while navigating between collections.
◆ Growth & SEO Strategy
Despite the heavy visual experimentation, we maintained strict semantic HTML5 structure for screen readers and crawlers. We used canonical tags to prevent duplicate content issues often found in SPA-like architectures. Image optimization (WebP conversion, lazy loading) ensured that the "heavy" visual style didn't penalize Core Web Vitals scores.
